Hydraulic Disconnect
Defined, controlled parting point
Designed to provide a defined and controlled parting point in a bottomhole assembly. Several designs are available for specific applications.
To activate, a ball is pumped and seats on an inner piston; controlled pressure is then applied to overcome the predetermined shear-pin rating, allowing the tool to part and leaving the lower section downhole. All hydraulic disconnects offer an internal fishing neck in the lower section for subsequent retrieval if required.
Once sheared, ports open to facilitate circulation while pulling out of hole and relieve applied pressure, giving the operator a positive surface indication that the tool has activated. All disconnects can be set for varying release pressures and are totally balanced during normal operating conditions.
